Aggie Mom 101

The Aggie experience comes with traditions, terminology, events, questions, and more than a few things that may be new to your family.

Aggie Mom 101 brings together useful resources and the wisdom of moms who have already navigated the journey.

New Student Resources

Aggie One Stop

Aggie One Stop is a central resource for registration, financial aid, billing, student records, graduation, and other administrative needs.

Academic Success

The Academic Success Center provides resources such as academic coaching, tutoring, supplemental instruction, and workshops.

Academic Calendar

Keep up to date on important dates, deadlines, and campus events.

Howdy, Muster, Silver Taps, the Aggie Ring, the 12th Man, Reveille – Texas A&M traditions are a meaningful part of the Aggie experience.

  • Get the phone numbers of important roommates and friends.
  • Encourage your student to form study groups and build connections.
  • Try to shift from “coach” to “counselor”: ask questions, offer perspective, and let your student practice solving problems.
  • Encourage your student to join at least one organization.
  • Write snail mail when you can—sometimes those notes become keepsakes.
  • Try to let your student learn from setbacks and successes.
  • Let them have their own Aggie experience; you do not have to share every detail you learn first.
  • Check the weather and prepare for rain.
  • Bring water and basic cleaning supplies.
  • Plan ahead for parking and loading zones.
  • Allow extra time for the unexpected.
  • Take photos of the room before move-in and report damage promptly.
  • Use official Residence Life information for current move-in rules, dates, and permitted items.

Part of the Aggie parent journey is learning when to offer help, when to point your student toward a resource, and when to let your Aggie work through something independently. Having other moms to ask can be invaluable.

Our members have shared favorite places to stay, eat, shop, and visit in Bryan-College Station.
